Another decade older

On April 4th 2007, I moved from from the age known as your thirties.....to something else which dare not speak it's name. I've heard that today your thirties are the new twenties and your forties are the new thirties. I wonder if this is a case of your brain simulating happiness. If you want to know what I'm talking about then you might be interested in this talk by Dan Gilbert a Harvard professor who asks if you had the choice of winner the lottery ($US137 million and becoming a paraplegic) which one would you choose....seems obvious right but his findings are very very surprising....watch this talk.....
Of course in evolutionary terms a decade is not even as long as the blink of an eye.

However to celebrate/contemplate my little milestone on the earth what did I do? Well - I decided to leave the eastern side of Australia to go to the other side known as Western Australia for a week. Now WA as it is affectionately known, can fit in Texas and still have room for New Zealand so you'd be right in thinking that I only covered a small part of it. If I really wanted to see the WA of the moment I'd have course have gone done a mine since this part of Australia is a mineral behemoth that is home to a booming export business that is powering the economic growth of Australia and giving everyone especially in Perth a lot more income and an increase in prices to match.

The aim was to fly to Perth and then head west then south to Rottnest island and then down to the Margaret river region famous for it's wineries and beaches. Picking up a basic but adequate Mitsubishi 380 rental car that's exactly what happened.

Photos here for you perusal follow.....Totally recommend a visit here and especially the Redback wheat beer brewed locally in Fremantle just outside Perth.
